Photo Show and Tell – Publix 7/8/10

by Addicted to Saving on July 8, 2010

I was excited about today’s shopping venture because coffee is on sale B1G1!  My husband goes through coffee like it is going out of style.  So, I was SO excited to see Eight O’Clock Coffee on sale B1G1 again this week.  Beyond the coffee, however, I really didn’t need anything besides the Hungry Jack syrup.  Let me tell you about the syrup.  You know that we all have non-negotiables.  Things that we have to have whether they are on sale or not.  For me, it would be Heinz Ketchup or Tropicana Orange Juice.  For my husband, it is Hungry Jack syrup.  I have a ton of Eggo waffles for him to enjoy (go HERE) and he refuses to eat them without his Hungry Jack syrup.  So, I had to buy it… Without a coupon.  Considering the fact that I spent a mere $0.36 during last week’s Photo Show and Tell (go HERE) I figured it would be okay to go a bit “crazy” today.  So I did – well, I went as “crazy” as I can.  ;)   I am also in the midst of joining a produce co-op so I won’t have to buy many veggies at the store any more.  When all was said and done I ended up saving 87%.  This is a lot less than normal but I’m okay with that.  I stocked up on bread to freeze, I have syrup for hubby and I stocked up on applesauce that I will use to bake with and as an occasional snack.  So, I’m pleased.

The items I purchased today coincide with this week’s Publix Weekly ad.  To see this week’s ad & coupon matchups, go HERE.

I was just up there and asked someone at customer service. They had them behind the counter. I was only given two, so I guess I’m just going to have to make multiple trips. Just wish it was a better week, hate making trips just for applesauce.

Can you post more info on how you found the produce co-op, and your experience with it once you start up?

I had to buy formula for the first time at full price (well, I only had $4 off) since my daughter was born March 5. It is expensive. I have been getting it free from various sources, and using coupons, enfamil checks, and getting rebates. So I was kind of spoiled. I also bought Dr. Pepper @ $2.44 thinking I was paying $1.27! So, 4 of them are going back to the store tomorrow since I have to go anyways. It seems like a lot of the stuff I was looking for was cleared off the shelf already and the sale has just started. grrr.

Finally found a blog for Tampabay! So much is different here, our prices, our insert coupons, it can get frustrating trying to get a deal. I too, would love to hear more about the produce coop.
Thanks
Regina

How do you get so many Publix savings booklets and facebook coupons for the same item? I never seen to be able to get more than one

Hi Dawn – I use my facebook account and my husband’s facebook account and we have a total of 3 computers so I am usually able to print out more than 2 facebook coupons. :) Regarding the Publix booklets, I will grab four booklets the first time I go in (if there is a huge stack) and another two booklets the second time I go in (assuming there are booklets left).

I’m so irritated at myself. I used my mayo coupons last week, thinking free was a good deal. If I’d waited till this week, I would have made like $24 in overage. I also lost out on the smart balance milk. I got rainchecks because they were out. When I bought coupons on ebay I just got the $2 ones, thinking that because they were keying it in, they wouldn’t allow for overage. The cashier took the full value of the coupon. So I got a little overage, but if I’d gotten the $2.50 coupons, it would have meant a lot of overage. Oh well though, I’m still getting great deals. I love Publix!

Wow, you really did fantastic! I’ll have to ask at my customer service about the booklets, as I have not seen any in months.

I’d love to hear more about the co-op as well.

I would love it, if you would link you savings, at my new Weekly Savings Linky @
