Photo Show and Tell – Publix 7/29/10

by Addicted to Saving on July 29, 2010

I had a great day at Publix today.  I wasn’t totally overwhelmed with happiness over this week’s sales ad and yet looking at the picture above, I see that I actually did a pretty good job.  I did make one fatal error.  Well, truthfully, I almost made two, but I caught the first error while shopping (I almost bought two Cole’s garlic bread with only one store and one manufacturer coupon – when I realized I needed two manufacturer coupons I put the garlic bread back.  :) )  The second error, however, was a pretty big one.  If you look at my picture above, you may be able to see that above the Jimmy Dean sausage is three Old Orchard frozen juice containers (they have green lids).  On the right of those three containers, you may notice a Welch’s frozen juice container with the yellow lid.  What did this error mean?  This error meant that I paid for two Old Orchard juice and only got one free AND I paid in full for a Welch’s juice.  UGH.  Not a big deal in the scheme of life and not a big enough error for me to trek back to Publix.  Lesson learned that I have to really look at each and every item I put in my grocery cart.  My fatal flaw cost me an extra $2.19.  When all is said and done, I’m pretty pleased with my trip.  I also went to Winn Dixie after Publix and bought some produce since they have good produce sales this week (go HERE and HERE to see their ad).

The items I purchased today coincide with this week’s Publix Weekly ad.  To see this week’s ad & coupon matchups, go HERE.

How do you earn more points with Recycle Bank? Are you just using up old points since they no longer have an association with Kashless? Thanks! I just signed up and managed to order one $5 Winn-Dixie coupon but feel like I missed the boat for anything else.

For the jimmy Dean Sausage….Isn’t that two manufacturer’s coupons? (Still learning. :)

Hi Michelle – In my scenario, I bought 4 Jimmy Dean sausage. I used two B1G1 coupons. The B1G1 coupons covered the two free sausage. So, I then had two sausage not covered by a coupon. I then used the $2/2 coupon which covered the two sausages I had to pay for. Does that make sense? This can be very confusing so let me know if you want me to explain differently! =)

What zipcode for the fruit bars? I don’t see it in my area and tried several other zip codes.

Liza, you bought 4 vitamins
but only used 2 publix and 2 manufactures?

is the green advantage a manufacture?

I would guess 3 bottles of vitamin A which are 3.29 and 1 vitamin D at 2.99 = 12.86

Liza July 30, 2010 at 11:37 am

Mark great job guessing! You are exactly correct :)

Ummm….

I went shopping today & they had to grab a 2nd manager to “approve” my $3/2 vitamins. I asked for them to adjust my last coupon down & she said, don’t worry about it & gave me $0.19 change. I’m still kind of giddy, though I never expect for that to happen again & tried to get them to fix it. I guess after my dealing with the issue of overage, they were kind of done with me. They were civil leaning towards nice about the coupon issue.
So, what % is it when they pay you to shop??? LOL

Last week, a tag was marked incorrectly (marked $2.79 but was actually $2.29 for a sale that was ending that night)& I literally had to buy the lady behind me’s banana to get to a positive amount! Her $.26 banana gave me a $.13 total for my order!

Thank you LIZA!!!!!

Liza – in your defense, all the frozen juices look the same! I almost picked up the wrong one too tonight when I did my shopping.
