 spring clothing with OshKosh B’gosh

Once the weather starts getting warmer, I begin going through the closets of my kiddos and remove their cold weather clothing and any clothing that I see is worn out or getting snug. It’s also a time when I like to begin adding new spring clothing with OshKosh B’goshMake sure you scroll to the bottom of this blog post to enter to win a $50 OshKosh B’gosh gift card!

OshKosh B’gosh has clothing that looks adorable on my son and daughter. Each of my children have unique personalities so I love being able to get stylish clothing for my son and girly dresses for my daughter. (My daughter loves dresses that are flowy. She calls them “tutus” :) )
This spring I ordered Easter outfits for my son and daughter. These outfits are perfect for Easter egg hunting, church on Easter morning and also regular spring days when they have play dates with friends.

For my son, I dressed him from his head down to his toes in OshKosh B’gosh. The Fedora (in size 4-7) is absolutely adorable and will go with pretty much any outfit that has blues and/or grays in it. His shirt is a Jersey Polo in the color blue. Sometimes my son associates polo shirts as “church shirts.” I love this polo because it is so soft. My son will want to wear this any day because it is so comfy. Because this outfit was for Easter, I dressed my son in the Flat-Front Shorts in Pink. Let me tell you, these shorts are awesome. They fit perfectly. I’m planning on ordering these shorts in more colors. And for my son’s shoes, he’s wearing OshKosh B’gosh Fisherman Sandals in brown. These shoes are the best because they look good with literally any outfit AND they are comfortable in the hot Florida heat.

Knowing how much my daughter loves flowy dresses, I dressed her in the OshKosh B’gosh Plaid Ruffle Dress. The dress is made with yarn-dyed plaid and has the most darling flutter sleeves. The back of the dress is just as attractive as the front and has crisscross ruffles. For my daughter’s shoes, she’s wearing Gladiator Sandals. These shoes are soft and very easy to put on. There is a zipper at the heel of the shoes making them easy to put on and take off!

With winter almost over, are you starting to grill out more and more? Being fortunate enough to live in Florida, I enjoy grilling in mild weather year-round. But I can also remember grilling year-round when we lived in a suburb of Chicago. We love grilling out – even when the weather was frigid cold in Illinois. One of our favorite foods to grill are Johnsonville Brats and Sausage.

Johnsonville’s Spark the Season is a campaign that encourages people to come out of the “dark period” of winter by grilling. Grilling signifies a new weather beginning.

johnsonville

Johnsonville partnered with the Special Olympics in sponsoring the 2017 Chicago Polar Plunge. Crazy Adventurous participants ran and plunged themselves into the icy waters of Lake Michigan. This plunge benefited the Special Olympics Chicago which was the perfect incentive for the participants to jump right now. Then, to warm up, they enjoyed freshly grilled, piping hot Johnsonville brats fresh off the burners of the Big Taste Grill.

Looking at the picture above, all of the smiling faces makes me think plunging into the freezing water was actually TONS of fun! :)

johnsonville

The Big Taste Grill is a 20-foot tall, 65-foot long grill, which cooks 2,500 brats an hour or 750 bratwurst at a time on its 40 square feet of grilling surface. The grill was manned by a Chicago Bears favorite, former linebacker Brian Urlacher.

February is National Snack Food Month

I know that the month of February is almost over but did you know that February is National Snack Food Month? I love my snack foods. I’m not going to lie, my favorite snack foods are the salty snack foods that are full of food coloring, preservatives, calories and junk. Yup. I love junk food. But as a family, we try to eat healthier and show our children how to eat healthier. So we try to eat healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, organic granola bars and pureed pouches. Below are some of my favorite Healthy Snack Foods that I give my kiddos! AND, in addition to snacks, I’ve included some awesome products that make eating snacks easier and more fun!

snack

Two of my favorite brands to give my kiddos are Earth’s Best and Ella’s Kitchen. I especially love their fruit & veggie pureed pouches. While my son is too old for baby food, he still enjoys pouches. So these are awesome ways to sneak extra fruits and veggies into his diet. I also love that both of these brands have snacks that grow with children. They have everything from baby formula (Earth’s Best), to baby food to pouches to toddler cookies to crackers and more! Head HERE to learn more about Earth’s Best and HERE to learn more about Ella’s Kitchen.

snack

The Marcus & Marcus’ animal themed 5PC Bamboo Fiber Dining Set will make snack and meal-time colorful and fun. My daughter loves this set! It is bright, durable and easy to handle for small hands. This set also promotes self-feeding and assists in containing messes. The food grade bamboo fibers incorporate all the strength of traditional plastic dishes and offer the added benefits of eco-friendly construction. Each item in the set is biodegradable, heat resistant and top-rack dishwasher safe. Includes: one large divided plate, one bowl, one cup and a spoon and fork utensil. Head HERE to view this Bamboo Fiber Dining Set!

snack

These Marcus & Marcus Collapsible Bowls are perfect for traveling with snacks for your kiddos. These Marcus & Marcus Animal Themed Collapsible Bowls are lightweight food-grade silicone containers. Fill the cups with snacks before you leave the house and once your child enjoys their snack, you can collapse the container for easy storage and traveling! Marcus & Marcus collapsible containers are molded from BPA-free, PVC-free and phthalate-free materials Head HERE for more info.

snack

When it comes to cleaning up after snacktime, this Chemical-free Cleaning Home Starter Kit will take care of the job chemical-free! The kit includes three core cloths to clean all major hard surfaces in the home without chemicals and remove 99% of bacteria by using just water. The set comes with a Bathroom Cloth, General Purpose Cloth, and Glass & Polishing Cloth. All cloths are reusable and machine washable for up to 300 washes! Head HERE for more info.

snack

This game incorporates food with physical activity! Educational Insights Pancake Pile-Up! Relay Game teaches children how to follow a sequence, math skills, and helps develop gross motor skills, balance, and coordination! While playing this game you will help your customers at the diner by racing to the grill relay-style, and piling up pancakes in precisely the right order. Such a fun game to play after snack-time when your children have energy to burn! Head HERE for more info.

snack

This Learning Resources Magnetic Healthy Foods toy is wonderful because it is a toy that teaches your child how to create well-rounded, nutritional meals and snacks! This toy will introduce your child to the concept of the 5 food groups and healthy meal planning with this set of magnetic, illustrated foods. This set includes: 33 magnetic pieces, a write & wipe magnetic placemat, 1 menu pad and an activity guide. The suggested activities help kids learn about and choose healthy foods at a restaurant or in the grocery store. Head HERE for more info.

snack

These boxes are the coolest ever and they help promote healthy snacking! Snack in the Box is a unique snack container that features two separate chambers. Each chamber holds 6 ounces of your child’s favorite dry snack and keeps food from being crushed or mushed on the go! I use this in my son’s lunchbox. In half of it I will put a crunchy snack and the other half I will put a small fruit like grapes or blueberries. My favorite box is the Drink in the Box. We don’t give our kiddos much juice and I haven’t found any juice boxes with ingredients that I like. So Drink in the Box is an awesome alternative. You can add your own juice to the box or infuse water with your child’s favorite fruit! Head HERE and HERE for more info.

tea-party

I love everything about this Pacific Play Tents Tea Party Tent. It is not only adorable but it is the perfect place to make snack time extra sweet for your child! It’s the perfect place for your child to get cozy in with books, a sippy cup and a snack! This adorable little pink house is spacious and bright. It provides tons of fun for indoors or outdoors and mesh windows provide added air ventilation. Head HERE for more info.

Bonefish Grill Review

bonefish-grill-review

One of our favorite restaurants to dine at is Bonefish Grill. In fact, chances are that if we have a rare date-night without the kids, you will find us at Bonefish Grill usually at 5:30. We’ll spend a couple of hours eating and relaxing and enjoying the silence :) Then we’ll head home and put the kiddos to bed. We are fortunate because we have a restaurant within walking distance to our house. Because it’s so close, we’ve also been known to order takeout on nights when I don’t want to cook or I don’t want to eat what I’ve cooked for the kiddos.

Our local Bonefish Grill in Trinity, Florida remodeled much of their restaurant and hubby and I wanted to check out all of the changes. We also wanted to try some of the seasonal items on their menu. With Grandma watching our kids, we headed to Bonefish to work hard on this Bonefish Grill Review. 😉

bonefish

We immediately noticed the restaurant was packed. That’s a sign of good food! One of the first changes we noticed was that the paintings on the walls have been replaced with newer, more modern paintings.

bonefish

We loved the changes to the wall separating the bar area with the rest of the restaurant. It’s not a full-wall. It’s more like a half wall with lights, open air openings, and interesting structural designs.

bonefish

The separating wall now has wine bottles on display and they give a much more mature and sophisticated atmosphere to the restaurant. The flooring has been replaced and the seat cushions have been replaced. Also, the wine displays in the bar area have been changed to really highlight and display the wine. All of the changes throughout the restaurant are very impressive. The sleek interior design gives the restaurant a more modern feel.

bonefish-grill-review-1

When we were seated for our meal, we noticed that our server immediately brought us water, bread and olive oil and the menu. In the past, we’ve usually waited for bread. We were told that one of the changes Bonefish Grill has made is to bring bread right when patrons are seated. Hubby likes that change – he can very easily eat two loaves 😉

bonefish

We started our meal with our favorite. Bang Bang Shrimp. If you haven’t tried it yet, you simply must. The shrimp is crispy and tossed in a creamy spicy sauce. It’s served over lettuce. And a tip! If you are fans of Bang Bang Shrimp and wish you could have it on a large salad, ask your server. My hubby has been known to ask for a special salad topped with this shrimp. So good. Also, if you want to get a deal on Bang Bang Shrimp, head to Bonefish Grill on Wednesdays. Wednesday is “Bang Wednesday” and Bang Bang Shrimp is just $6!

bonefish

Bonefish Grill’s seasonal menu has Lobster, Crab and Artichoke Dip on it and we wanted to try it out. The chips are seasoned tortilla strips and the dip was served hot. We were pleasantly surprised to see and taste huge lumps of lobster, crab meats and artichokes. If you enjoy seafood in dips, don’t miss this.

bonefish-grill-review-2

For dinner, hubby and I split two entrees. We tried out the seasonal entree Cedar Plank Bourbon Salmon. The salmon is covered in a maple and bourbon glaze that gave an awesome flavor. This dish typically comes with jasmine rice and rainbow colored carrots. We substituted the carrots for spinach. If you enjoy spinach, their spinach is awesome. It’s buttery and garlicy. Seriously so good.

bonefish

The second entree we split is my favorite salad: Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad. It’s not unusual to see my husband picking up this salad to-go at our local Bonefish. This salad is topped with 5 huge grilled shrimp, crispy tortilla strips, roasted corn, black beans, feta, grape tomatoes, red onion and cilantro lime vinaigrette. It’s wonderful.

bonefish

To end our night, hubby wanted dessert. He wanted to get the Chocolate Crème Brûlée. I was too full to have more than one bite. If you like chocolate, this crème brûlée is for you. My hubby was telling me that he was stuffed but he still managed to eat every bit of dessert on his plate 😉

If you haven’t tried Bonefish Grill before, you must. While I was asked to write this Bonefish Grill Review, my hubby and I seriously love this restaurant and would have gone here unprompted. It is a wonderful place to go for date-nights. And, if you are looking for a place to go to for Sunday Brunch, their Sunday Brunch menus is wonderful as well. Head HERE to read my Bonefish Grill Sunday Brunch Review.

With the colder weather here, cold and flu season has arrived! With my son in school, I’m finding that he’s bringing home germs left and right. To prepare for the inevitable sniffles, we have stocked up on Scotties! Scotties tissues are available in-store and also online on Amazon.com.

I’ve learned a few tricks to help keep my family sickness free:
1) As soon as my son returns home from school, we wash his hands and face AND change his clothing. And, if we return home from the grocery store, church, etc, we follow the same protocol. Wash hands, face, change clothing.
2) We use essential oils to help boost our immunity.
3) Sleep!! Sleep is vital for my busy son and daughter. So I make sure that their naptimes and bedtimes are a priority. It’s okay if we are a little late putting the kiddos to bed, but I try to make sure they sleep as long as their bodies need.
4) Hydration. I am fortunate because both of my kids enjoy drinking water. I try to make sure they have water available in their sippy cups all day long so that they stay well-hydrated.

scotties

Scotties is the perfect combination of softness and strength that can provide comfort to you and your whole family. Scotties is soft enough for everyday use, and strong enough to tackle your worst cold.
