Walgreens Scenarios 9/30/12 – 10/6/12

by Addicted to Saving on September 29, 2012

This post includes specific items you can purchase and coupons that you can use to maximize your dollar AND your Register Rewards at Walgreens. The goal of this post is to help you get an idea on how to roll your RRs from one week to the next. Please also know that these transactions do not take into account tax. Every state taxes differently so you may need to budget a little extra to cover tax.

To see this week’s Walgreens Weekly Ad and Coupon Matchups, go HERE.

Transaction #1

Buy one Cepacol Sensations Lozenges 4 pk, $1 (you will receive $1 RR)
If you have left over RRs from last week use them here!
Total Spent: $1
Receive $1 RR

Transaction #2

Buy one Gillette Venus Razor, $9.99 (you will receive $4 RR)
Buy one small filler (check out Halloween or Clearance aisle), $0.25
Minus one $4/1 Venus Refillable Razor, exp. 9/30/12 (RP 08/12/12)
Minus $1 RR from Transaction #1
Total Spent: $5.24
Receive $4 RR

Transaction #3

Buy one Colgate Powered Toothbrush, $6.99 (you will receive $2 RR)
Buy one small filler (check out Halloween or Clearance aisle), $0.25
Minus one $2/1 Colgate Battery Powered Toothbrush 9/30/12 SS Insert (exp 10/20/12)
Minus $4 RR from Transaction #2
Total Spent: $1.24
Receive: $2 RR

Total Remaining RRs to apply towards next week’s ad: $2 RR

Total Out of Pocket for 3 transactions: $7.48+ applicable taxes for approximately $18.50 in products. And if you use RRs from last week in Transaction #1 you will save even more!

**Also – Don’t forget that your RRs will expire in a few weeks and if you let them expire, you are basically throwing away money. If you are concerned you will let them expire, I would put your RRs towards paper products like toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, etc which are hard to get dirt cheap!

Hi, I was just wondering if you need the filler item since it is only one item and one coupon for each transaction? Thanks so much!

Hi Lauren! Awesome question! Since you will be using a Register Reward (RR) in addition to a coupon, you will need a filler item. Walgreens considers RRs to be coupons. Because of this, you will need to purchase two items in order to use two “coupons” (one RR and one coupon). Let me know if you have further questions!
