CVS Scenarios 9/23/12 – 9/29/12

by Addicted to Saving on September 22, 2012

Here are this week’s scenarios for CVS. This post includes specific items you can purchase and coupons that you can use to maximize your dollar AND your Extra Care Bucks at CVS. Please know that you do not have to follow these transactions if you do not want to. The goal of this post is to help you get an idea on how to roll your Extra Care Bucks from one scenario to the next. Please also know that these transactions do not take into account tax. Every state taxes differently so you may need to budget a little extra to cover tax.

If you are new to shopping at CVS, go HERE to read Intro to CVS.

To see this week’s CVS Weekly Ad go HERE.

Transaction #1

Buy one Alteril Sleep Aid 2 pk, $5.79 (you will receive $5.79 ECB)
Buy one Thermacare Heat Wrap for Lower Back 1 ct, $3.79 (you will receive $3.79 ECB)
If you have leftover ECBs from last week use them here!
Total Spent: $9.58
Receive: $5.79 ECB & $3.79 ECB

Transaction #2

Buy three Herbal Essences Shampoo, $5.99 each (you will receive $10 ECB for spending $30 on Herbal Essences)
Buy three Herbal Essences Conditioner, $5.99 each
Minus three FREE Herbal Essences Conditioner or Styler wyb Shampoo, exp. 10/31/12 (SS 09/16/12)
Minus $5.79 & $3.79 ECB from Transaction #1
Total Spent: $8.39
Receive: $10 ECB

Transaction #3

Buy two Dimetapp Childrens 4 oz, $4.99 (you will receive $3 ECB)
Buy one Tom’s Deodorant, $3.99 (you will receive $1 ECB)
Buy one Colgate Optic White toothpaste, $4.99 (you will receive $2 ECB)
Minus two $2/1 Dimetapp Product printable
Minus one $1/1 Tom’s of Maine Deodorant or Bar Soap, exp. 11/17/12 (SS 09/23/12)
Minus one $1/1 Colgate Optic White, Total Advanced or Sensitive Pro-Relief, exp. 9/29/12 (SS 09/09/12)
Minus $10 ECB from Transaction #2
Total Spent: $2.99
Receive: $3 ECB, $1 ECB & $2 ECB

Total Remaining ECBs to apply towards next week’s ad: $6 ECB
Total Out of Pocket for 3 transactions: $17.97 + applicable taxes for approximately $60.00 in products. And if you used left over ECBs in Transaction #1 you will save even more!

**Also – Don’t forget that your ECBs will expire in a few weeks and if you let them expire, you are basically throwing away money. If you are concerned you will let them expire and you want to use them now, I would put your ECBs towards paper products like toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, etc which are hard to get dirt cheap!

Thank you for all of your work in providing us with your scenarios, and the good deals out there available to everyone to save money. I appreciate the time you spend on this each week. I quit my job 19 months ago to be a full time caregiver to my very sick child. I couldn’t do it without couponing!

You have to buy TWO Dimetapps, not one to receive the ecb. Also, Orlando Sentinel doesn’t have Toms coupon. Perhaps it is regional. Anyone know if two Dimetapps will print?

I am confused about the Herbal Essence deal. It says in the ad “Spend $15 and get $5 ECB Limit 1 per card” how are you getting $10 ECB for spending $30 if the limit is one?

Because it is actually a monthly deal with a limit if 7. The monthly deal ends 9/29. :)

Sorry about the double reply.. it didn’t show up when I came back to this page. Anyway, here’s another deal for the HE:

Thanks to the CVS forum at WeUseCoupons.com for the info

**Buy 4 shampoo and 4 conditioners or stylers, $5.99 each= $47.92
**Use 4 BOGO’s from 9/16 SS (this coupon will auto-deduct the full value of $6.99 as long as your cashier allows it to go thru and doesn’t adjust the price)
**Also, use (2) $3/2 coupons from 8/5 RP (since you’re “buying” 4 and getting 4 for free with the BOGO’s this coupon will apply to the ones you’re buying”)
**Total with auto-deduct is $13.96 (without would be $17.96)
**Receive $15 ECB’s

Also, please note that these are the big bottles that are included in this deal, the small ones are not included. And the best way to hand over the coupons would be for them to scan the $3/2 first then the BOGO’s, this will prevent any beeps at the register. ;)

Please see the CVS forum at WeUseCoupons for more info. :)

Oh ok, thank you for clearing that up. I only have two of the BOGO but I was going to ask if I could use one of the $3/2 since I am buying four. It’s a great deal. Thanks!
