Every year for Asher’s birthday, we will have Ethiopian Food in honor of his heritage. We ordered Ethiopian food as takeout. Asher loved the injera and corn that we fed him last night!
Time has been flying since I left for my second trip to Ethiopia in July! I have had Asher living with me for two months now and both he and I have been home in the states for 6 weeks now. Time flies. We are doing good. We are starting to get into a routine and while I can’t say that everything is always easy (parenting is never easy - especially when your baby or child comes from a traumatic situation) but Asher has definitely bonded with me and hubby. We are having so much fun with him and he is like a sponge learning new things every day. We are loving this boy more and more each day and are so thankful that he is finally home with us!
Yesterday was his one year birthday and I wanted to share some of our photos with you! I know that so many of you have been following our journey and I thought you might like a glimpse of what our evening looked like last night! (And, he is just so darn cute that I wanted to brag show you the pictures 😉 )
As a side note - we ordered a cake at Publix. Did you know that Publix gives a free smash cake for your one year old? So Asher’s cake was free! Have I told you how much I love Publix? 🙂

Asher patiently waiting for his cake. Yes - I stripped him down to his diaper 😉

Taking his first taste of frosting.

Diving in. It is safe to say that Asher loved his Publix birthday cake!

Thanks for coming to Addicted to Saving! Here’s a little bit about me so you can know who’s behind all these posts!
My name is Liza and I began my money-saving journey in the Spring of 2009 as a way to stretch a limited household income. I had lost my job and my hubby was self-employed. I launched Addicted to Saving in November of 2009 and it has grown by leaps and bounds. Since then, my hubby and I have struggled with the ups and downs of two failed adoptions and are now LOVING being parents to our little man Asher who we brought home from Ethiopia in August of 2013. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to help you save money. My goal is that you will have FUN and become empowered to save more and more money each week..
